The aluminum product is first cleaned with fine sandpaper, degreased with a special product or a solution of washing powder in hot water, and then washed under running water. In order not to leave fingerprints on the prepared part, you must handle it by the edges or wear gloves.
Meanwhile, the electrolyte is poured into an aluminum container and the aluminum product is placed there. As a current source, you can use a car battery or an adjustable current rectifier with a voltage of 12 volts and a current value of 2 Amperes. The minus is connected to the aluminum container, and the plus to the part itself. The current density should be about 15 milliamps per square centimeter.
The anodizing process itself lasts about an hour and a half, and the part should acquire a grayish-blue coating.
After this, the part can be left in its current state or painted with a solution of aniline dye. To prepare a solution per liter of water heated to 60-80 degrees, take 1 ml of acetic acid and 15 grams of dye. The part is placed in the solution and left for 10-15 minutes. Depending on the duration of exposure, the color saturation changes.

Aluminum painting without anodizing

To paint using this method you will need: metal primer, sandpaper, degreasing solvent, metal paint.

To begin with, the surface of the aluminum part is treated with fine-grained emery cloth. It is better not to use coarse sandpaper, since aluminum is a rather fragile metal and its surface can be easily damaged. If you do not treat the metal surface with sandpaper at all, the paint will not adhere well to the surface. Sanding with sandpaper creates microcracks and thereby promotes deep penetration of paint into the metal.

A small piece of cloth is soaked in kerosene or acetone. It is used to wipe the polished surface. This will remove dust, dirt and degrease the part. The final stage is rinsing the product with water.

The next step is to create an electrolytic solution:

Divide the water in the amount necessary to completely immerse the element being processed into 2 equal parts. Pour it into separate containers.
In one of the vessels we make a saline solution (1 part salt to 5 parts liquid), and in the second - soda in the same proportion.
We filter the resulting mixtures and place both in a previously prepared aluminum container. Let the solution settle.

The electrolyte is ready, we place the part to be anodized into it. We connect the plus of the current source to the product, and connect the minus to the aluminum container in which it is located. The treatment will last at least 120 minutes. After which a grayish-blue coating will appear on the surface of the metal.

You can start painting. Place the part for a quarter of an hour in a paint material prepared in advance and heated to 80˚C. The process is completed, the aluminum profile is coated with a durable layer that will last for many years.
