What does a500s fittings mean?

Corrugated fittings - differences between A500C and A3 (A400)

The main task of corrugated reinforcement is to increase the strength and durability of concrete structures. When placing corrugated rods horizontally, the structure is protected from destruction caused by tension forces, and when placed vertically, the effect exerted by tensile stresses on finished structures is reduced.

Thanks to the notches applied to the reinforcement, good contact with the cement mixture and strong fixation of the profile inside concrete structures is ensured. Thus, its use helps concrete structures behave like a monolith under various loads - their ability to withstand dynamic and static loads increases, the appearance of cracks is prevented and the service life of buildings is increased.

Application of corrugated reinforcement

Most often, reinforcing steel is used in the production of load-bearing structures of reinforced concrete structures. Scope of its use:

  • housing and communal complex - strengthening the foundation;
  • construction - interfloor ceilings, columns, walls;
  • industry - tank walls, dams, bridges.

The most common is corrugated reinforcement A3, as well as class A500c, with a rod thickness (diameter) of 10 and 12 mm. The latter is usually used when laying foundations. Supplied in skeins, coils and rods.

Advantages and differences between A500C fittings and A3 (A400) fittings

A500 fittings and A3 (A400) fittings are produced in accordance with different regulatory documents. For A500S this is GOST R 52544-2006 or STO ASChM 7-93, for A3, respectively, GOST 5781-82. Both types of reinforcing bars are used for the production of reinforced concrete products. However, everyone has their own tasks. Differences in application form the basis of the differences between these classes.

Main Differences

  • Class A3 reinforcement is not fastened using arc welding. A500C, on the contrary, is held together with it, which simplifies the process of manufacturing structures. A500 contains less carbon and alloying additives. This makes it flexible and fluid, improving the quality of the steel weld.
  • The A3 reinforcement seam is fragile and subject to deformation. Defects may occur in it when the structure is overloaded. Its service life is less than that of the A500. Due to its fluidity, A500 can withstand loads and stretching 20% more than A3.
  • The characteristics of the A500C make it possible to use it for the construction of high-rise buildings, structures with complex shapes and increased load. It withstands compression and stretching. Due to this, it is used for the construction of bridges and road surfaces.
  • The A500C fittings resist extreme temperature differences of +45°C/-55°C. The cost of the brand is lower than the price of A3, which makes it an economically viable purchase for large projects. The product is sold in coils for large projects and in rods for medium and small projects.

A1 and A500C fittings: differences

The marking indicates that both types are rolled steel, reinforced mechanically and thermally. The letter “C” in the name of the A500C reinforcement is an indicator of the possibility of using welding to connect such elements, “500” indicates the yield strength of the material (50 kgf/mm2).

Production

Reinforcement A1 (second name A240) according to GOST 5781-82 is produced with a regular round section and only with a smooth profile (no surface corrugation). more than 0.22%) One of two technologies is used: rolled and wire reinforcement is produced using the cold-drawn method, and rod reinforcement is produced using the hot-rolled method (has higher strength).

Brand A500C is one of the newest, technologically advanced types of reinforcement products. Its key features: reliable high-strength steel, the presence of special crescent-shaped ribs on the surface, due to which the adhesion efficiency with any concrete mixture is very high. The rods lend themselves well to arc welding, resulting in a highly reliable fastening.

Application

Smooth rods A1 are actively used in the creation of reinforced concrete structures for a wide range of purposes. Reinforcement of future floors, walls, production of reinforced concrete panels for high-rise buildings, industrial buildings, special-purpose structures and others where high strength of the entire structure is required. A1 acts as an auxiliary element of the frame, because its adhesion coefficient to concrete is low.

The scope of application of the A500C is no less wide. This is the creation of reinforced concrete structures, pouring foundations designed for significant loads, reinforcement, as well as strengthening not only simple reinforced concrete, but also load-bearing structures, many others. The cost of this material is higher, which is justified by its advantages over other classes:

  • increased design resistance to loads, thereby reducing the consumption of reinforcement during construction;
  • the cost of thermomechanical processing of reinforcement is low;
  • No hardening is required in the welding zone, which increases the strength and ductility of the joints;
  • A500C fittings can be used to replace A1 class fittings without the need to recalculate designs.

The table summarizes the main characteristics of the considered rental classes A1 and A500C:

GOST for fittings a500s, a3 (a400) 52544 and GOST 5781-82

For metal rods made of steel, two main standards are used today: GOST 5781 82 and fittings GOST R 52544-2006 . Regulatory documents regulate the quality of raw materials used for the production of rolled products, the compliance of finished products with established requirements (strength, corrosion resistance, weldability, level of expansion in concrete), determine the types and classes of rods depending on their technical characteristics and purpose.

Knowing by what standard a particular product is made, you can find out its main characteristics. For example, A240 GOST reinforcement refers to hot-rolled metal products, usually produced with a round profile and supplied both in rods and coils. The diameter of the rods ranges from 6 to 40 millimeters. You can buy rods manufactured in accordance with the current state standard from the Regional House of Metal company.

GOST for A500S fittings

According to GOST for fittings 52544, sample A500C has no analogues.

Products of this brand are produced from cheap carbon steel without alloying additives in the composition according to specifications (technical conditions), which are developed individually by each rolled metal production enterprise.

Despite being produced according to specifications, rods of this brand are especially popular among consumers due to their low cost, high performance characteristics and the possibility of using electric welding to connect rods to each other and other metal products.

There is another brand of rolled metal marked A500, but without the “C” at the end. A500S is not the same rolled product as A500 GOST reinforcement, which is produced according to the current state standard of 2006.

According to it, products of the A500 brand are hot-rolled rods, which are strengthened during the rolling process and are subsequently not subjected to additional processing. You can also find out which class the product you have chosen belongs to by reading the designations of special steel.

They indicate the strength class, nominal diameter, and operating features.

GOST for A400 fittings

Products marked A400 are quite durable and resistant to stress. According to GOST, A3 fittings are produced from steel marked 35GS and 25G2S. The diameter of the rods ranges from six to forty millimeters. Products are manufactured with protrusions along helical lines, which on one side of the bar have a left-hand entry, and on the other side of the bar – a right-hand entry. At the consumer's request, rolled products can also be produced with a smooth profile rather than a corrugated one.

According to GOST, A1 (A400) fittings are made of steel grades St3kp, St3sp, St3ps. It is considered one of the most common types of rolled metal and is widely used in concrete structures with a large protective layer. The rods are produced using the cold drawing method, have a smooth profile and a diameter of 6 to 40 millimeters. Rolled metal is used in all areas of construction and reconstruction of public and industrial buildings.

A500s fittings

  А500С - decoding of the designation: A - hot-rolled thermally strengthened, 500 - yield strength (N/mm), C - welding is applicable

A500S fittings GOST 52544-2006, GOST 34028-2016 (put into effect on 01/01/2019) – universal welded construction reinforcement of the latest class.

In the Russian Federation, in 1993, NIICHERMET was developed and a new standard STO ASChM 7-93 was released, which regulates the requirements for class A500C fittings; later GOST 52544-2006 was developed and implemented.

Due to its properties, A500C reinforcement is the most common and in demand when carrying out construction work using the monolithic reinforced concrete method. Low carbon content, along with thermomechanical processing of reinforcing steel, ensures its improved weldability and ductility, increased toughness and durability.

1 Steel reinforcement class A500C GOST 52544-2006 and GOST 34028-2016 is weldable, as evidenced by the letter “C” that is present in its marking - one of the important advantages is the ability to use arc welding during operation.
2 Reinforcing bars of class A500C have a chemical composition determined by the carbon content of steel not exceeding 0.22% and carbon equivalent not exceeding 0.5%. is made from 3PS steel and contains significantly less alloying components than 35GS or 25G2S steel, which allows rods to be bent at significant angles.
3 Versatility - Gosstroy of Russia recommends the use of A500S reinforcement in reinforced concrete structures along with and instead of reinforcing steel of classes A-III or A400 steel grade 35GS (GOST 5781-82) and At-IIIS (GOST 10884-81) of the same diameters.

As you can see, the profile differs in appearance from class AIII (A400C), primarily in that the crescent-shaped protrusions in the profile do not intersect with the longitudinal ribs.

The crescent-shaped profile contributes to the formation of higher strength and plastic properties of steel during rolling and does not have stress concentrators at the intersections of the transverse ribs with the longitudinal ones (they do not intersect).

The profile pattern from different manufacturers may have different designs, which differ in pitch and the angle of inclination of the crescent-shaped protrusions relative to each other.

Reinforcement of classes A3 and A500C is rolled metal intended for strengthening building structures and the production of reinforced concrete products.

Definition, classification, technical requirements for the manufacture of fittings are determined by GOST 10884-94 ; GOST R 52544-2006 ; GOST 5781-82 and other regulatory documents.

According to these standards, such reinforcement is round bars made of carbon, low-alloy or high-alloy steel. The surface of such rods has a smooth or periodic profile.

Both types of reinforcement are widely used in construction. However, to obtain the specified strength and durability of an object, it is necessary to use reinforcement with certain properties and characteristics, without neglecting their differences. Otherwise, this can lead to deterioration of adhesion to concrete, loss of frame integrity and other negative consequences. What is the difference between A500C and A3 fittings?

A500S fittings

Manufactured from low-carbon steel 35GS or 35G2S (carbon content within 0.22%) in accordance with the technical specifications of GOST R 52544-2006. The presence of the letter “C” in the product marking indicates that the fittings of this brand can be connected by arc welding.

Such reinforcement is used in the manufacture of frames of reinforced concrete products, in individual residential construction to strengthen monolithic foundations, etc.

Fittings A3 (A400)

A3 (new designation A400) is a hot-rolled reinforcement, the characteristics and technical conditions of which are regulated by GOST 5781-82. Made from steel grades 25GS and 25G2S , carbon content up to 0.37%.

Higher carbon content reduces ductility and increases brittleness of welded joints. Welding of such fittings is not allowed . The fittings of this brand are capable of withstanding higher dynamic loads than A500C.

Therefore, reinforcement of this type is used in areas with high stress - load-bearing structures of foundations, supports, bridges, columns, etc.

The table shows the comparative characteristics of these types of steel reinforcement.

What is a500s fittings: comparison of a500s fittings with a3 fittings

Reinforcement is used to enhance the technical characteristics of concrete. Therefore, reinforcement is used during the production of all reinforced concrete structures. However, today, together with the website Beton-area.com, we will find out what a500c reinforcement is. In addition, in this article it is worth learning more about the technical characteristics of class A500c fittings.

Features of a500s fittings

The fittings vary. Indeed, each type of reinforcement has its own technical properties. Therefore, fittings are divided into classes. Today the fittings have no similar analogues. Manufacturers produce fittings taking into account all legal standards for the production of this building material.

Class a500c fittings are a special type of fittings that have more modern technical characteristics. Now it’s worth figuring out what it is and learning about some of the features of the material.

A500s reinforcement is produced in coils or rods. Now is the time to list all the characteristics of this material. First, it is worth saying that the reinforcement in coils has a diameter of 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 mm.

And the diameter of the reinforcement in bars can be 16, 18, 20, 22, 25, 28, 32, 36, 40 mm. The fittings are made using the hot-contact or cold-drawn method. In the first manufacturing method, rod reinforcement is obtained. The second produces rope or wire reinforcement.

It is worth noting that rod reinforcement has greater strength.

Previously, carbon steel fittings were produced in Russia. Fittings made from such material had a favorable price and were distinguished by good welding. However, such fittings had a number of disadvantages. For example, it was distinguished by great plasticity. In addition, this material was not resistant to corrosion. It is because of these shortcomings that classes of reinforcement appeared. Today there are several such classes.

For example, class A400 fittings are of poor quality, but have a favorable price. This class of reinforcement was characterized by excessive plasticity, which appeared even at the lowest welding temperature. Products made from such reinforcement acquired corrosion almost immediately after welding. Another negative aspect of such reinforcement is that after repeated welding, the structures simply fall apart.

What is made from a500s reinforcement

Fire escape and floor ladders are made from A500c reinforcement. This material is also suitable for creating: fences and grilles for windows and doors. In addition, a500c reinforcement is used to reinforce or strengthen structures made of concrete.

Rebar is widely used in construction work. For example, this material can hold together building elements. In some cases, a500c reinforcement acts as a frame for cast blocks. A500c reinforcement is considered the best building material, which plays a special role in construction.

Indeed, such material can be used for the construction of absolutely any buildings. Class a500c fittings are not afraid of low temperatures. It follows that this advantage provides the opportunity to use this material for the construction of objects in absolutely any conditions. The reinforcement is easy to process and welds well.

Therefore, it is also used to strengthen floors and reinforce walls.

Reinforcement classes a500c and a3 and their differences

A3 and a500s fittings are widely used today by modern workers and builders. However, each class has its own difference. Therefore, it is necessary to understand this in more detail.

So, different steel is used for each type of reinforcement. For example, class A500c reinforcement is made from steel, which contains a minimum percentage of carbon. It is this quality that is an indicator of good weldability.

And in the labeling this indicator is confirmed by the letter “c”. An important advantage of the material is its unpretentiousness to welding conditions. Another advantage is that welded joints are not damaged by brittle solutions.

Another advantage is that such fittings allow the use of arc welding.

A3 class fittings are made from steel, which contains a high level of carbon. It is worth noting that this indicator limits the use of this material. In addition, this type of reinforcement, under certain circumstances, can even be considered a dangerous material for buildings being constructed. It is worth mentioning that this type of reinforcement is partially weldable.

If you look at European standards, you will find out that they prohibit welding of reinforcement that contains carbon in its composition exceeding 0.22%. Therefore, class A500c fittings are the best option in this case.

Reinforcement class a500c has a yield strength of 500N/mm2. For A3 reinforcement this figure is 400N/mm2.

If you read the message of the State Construction Committee of the Russian Federation dated March 11, 1998, you can see that with equal design loads, A500s class reinforcement wins. And the savings in practice are 20%.

The a3 and a500s fittings have differences even in appearance. So, class A500c reinforcement has crescent-shaped protrusions on the profile that intersect with the longitudinal ribs. A3 fittings do not have such elements. In addition, class A3 reinforcement does not have strength and plastic properties. And class a500c fittings can differ in different types of designs, which can have different angles of inclination and differ in the pitch of the crescent-shaped protrusions.

As you can see, class a500c fittings and class a3 fittings differ from each other in significant differences. It must be said that today Russian factories produce these materials in different volumes. However, A500c reinforcement is mainly used for construction work. Therefore, this material is produced in huge quantities.

A500C fittings: what is this class, its technical characteristics, how it is produced and where it is used

One of the materials most used in the construction of reinforced concrete buildings and foundations is class A500C reinforcement. The scope of its application is very extensive - from reinforcing simple reinforced concrete products to strengthening load-bearing structures. Due to the high popularity of the material, it will be useful for anyone interested in construction to learn more about the A500 class of reinforcement.

What is A500C fittings?

Before describing in detail the manufacturing method and properties of these metal rods, it will be useful to explain how this marking is deciphered.

The letter A denotes a variety - in this case it is a hot-rolled rod, thermally and mechanically reinforced. The high strength of the material, achieved through a complex processing process, is what makes its scope so wide. The number 500 indicates the yield strength of the rods. This indicator is one of the most important for the material.

It shows what kind of load it can withstand without harming itself. If the load exceeds the limit, then irreversible consequences occur in the metal, affecting the crystalline structure. As a result, reliability and service life are significantly reduced.

Therefore, the choice should be made especially carefully, having previously calculated the maximum loads that the S500 fittings will have to withstand.

Finally, by letter C it can be established that the material is weldable. Not all analogues have this property. After all, welding is accompanied by a sharp increase in temperature, due to which the crystalline structure of the metal is disrupted - subsequently, its strength in the welding areas decreases.

With significant loads in these areas, the likelihood of failure is highest. In addition, these areas are the most vulnerable to corrosion. So, welding of fittings is strictly prohibited. Because of this, when working with most types of metal rods, you have to use special wire and a knitting tool.

But if you chose A500C rods, then you don’t have to worry - you can weld reinforcement of this brand without harm to it.

There is also a special fittings A500SP. This is a relatively rare type of material, characterized by better adhesion to concrete. What is used here is not an ordinary screw notch, but a special one, in which the ribs are not parallel to each other, but perpendicular. This allows for more reliable adhesion to the solution, while at the same time evenly distributing the load over the entire surface.

As you can see, decoding is quite simple. Now let's talk about production methods.

Manufacturing process

The production of fittings of this brand is a rather complex technological process. To begin with, different methods are used in the manufacture of A500C reinforcement: cold-drawn and hot-rolled. The first method is suitable for the production of rolled and wire rods, and the second is used when it is necessary to create rod ones. It is worth noting that the latter has higher strength than most analogues made by other methods.

In addition, the alloy itself contains less carbon than, for example, reinforcing steel for A400. This slightly reduces strength, but increases corrosion resistance, while at the same time allowing the use of welding when assembling the frame, which significantly simplifies the work process.

Scope of application

As mentioned above, these rods are used in various fields, since their technical properties are very good and the price is relatively low. Therefore it is used:

  1. When reinforcing load-bearing structures (monolithic construction).
  2. For the manufacture of simple reinforced concrete structures (monolithic and strip foundations of private houses).
  3. In the manufacture of reinforced concrete products of various sizes and purposes (floor slabs and others).

The application process is simplified by a large range of products. After all, class A500C reinforcement can have a diameter from 4 to 40 millimeters. Therefore, choosing products that will be the best choice for a particular construction project is usually not difficult.

In addition, the material comes in different forms. If the diameter is from 4 to 6 millimeters, then transportation is carried out in the form of skeins. With a diameter of 6 to 12 millimeters, it is transported both in coils and in rods - depending on the capabilities of the manufacturer and the requirements of the client.

With a larger diameter, the material is transported only in rods.

Why is she so popular?

Every building material (and construction fittings are no exception) stands the test of time. All options are tested in practice, some become more common, while others become less common. The excellent characteristics of the A500 fittings ensure its stable demand and considerable popularity. Let's list the main advantages:

  • low cost;
  • high strength and the ability to withstand any type of load - tensile, bending and compression - allows you to use less material, further reducing construction costs;
  • a specially developed steel grade eliminates the risk of weak points that fail under significant loads;
  • the screw notch adheres well to concrete;
  • bending radius of cold fittings up to 180 degrees significantly simplifies the installation process;
  • thanks to the special composition and processing of the metal, the A500C reinforcement can be welded, simplifying the installation process and the reliability of the finished frame;
  • can last for many years, withstanding low temperatures down to -55 degrees Celsius inclusive.

The table below describes the characteristics of the most common diameters of the S500 fittings:

Reinforcement diameter, mmPossible length, mSteel gradeWeight per linear meter, kg
А500С 10 6-12 St3SP/PS 0,617
А500С 12 6-12 St3SP/PS 0,888
А500С 14 6-12 St3SP/PS 1,21
А500С 16 6-12 St3SP/PS 1,58
А500С 20 6-12 St3SP/PS 2,47
А500С 25 6-12 St3SP/PS 3,85

Knowing the weight of the reinforcement, the most popular diameters and lengths of the produced rods, you can easily select the material that is best suited for a particular object. GOST 52544-2006 will tell you more about the material of A500S reinforcement.

What is the difference between a500c and a3?

Often people who are not very well versed in construction believe that A500 reinforcement is A3 (aka A400). Actually this is not true. Technical characteristics differ, which is why the range of fittings separates these two classes.

First of all, A400 cannot be welded - this will disrupt the structure of the metal and reduce its strength. In addition, the bending radius of this reinforcement should not exceed 90 degrees (for A500C, as already mentioned, up to 180 degrees). It is equally important that A500C is used as an anchor element in mounting loops or embedded parts. Well, high strength reduces the amount of material consumed during construction. As practice shows, savings can reach 15 and even 25%.

Therefore, approach the choice of material extremely seriously in order to avoid such mistakes.

Now you know all the reasons why A500C fittings are so popular, and you also understand its main characteristics, advantages and varieties. This means that selecting the right material will not be the slightest difficulty.

A500S fittings: characteristics according to GOST:

The time of crochet hooks in reinforcement is gradually becoming a thing of the past. New materials, introduced almost everywhere, make it possible to use manual arc welding almost everywhere without losing the basic characteristics of steel rods. Such a connection was practiced before, but was prohibited, and after the work of unscrupulous builders it could lead to accidents due to insufficient structural strength.

Description and appearance

A500C reinforcement is a special type of periodic rolled metal made of reinforcing steel with a yield strength of at least 500 N/mm², intended for welding during installation, as indicated by the letter “C” in the marking. The product is rolled steel rods with a round cross-section with a diameter of 6-40 mm and a length of 6 to 25 m.

Opposite each other on the rod there are straight longitudinal stiffening ribs; between them along the entire length there are arcuate ribs in 2 rows at an angle of about 45° to the center line. The ribs along the entire surface of the reinforcement do not intersect and do not join each other, ensuring good adhesion to the concrete being strengthened. The requirements of international standards are fully met in the production of such building materials as A500C reinforcement.

GOST 52544-06 defines the technical conditions of production and requirements for the main characteristics of the product.

Release form and properties of steel

For a nominal diameter of up to 12 mm, it is possible to produce periodic reinforcement in coils (coils), while thicker products are produced only in the form of straight rolled rods 6-25 m. Most often you can find products of the type A500C reinforcement with a length of 11.7-12 m, this size is convenient for transportation using long trailers on various cargo tractors. The manufacturer can also produce fittings of measured length according to an agreement with the customer.

In the manufacture of fittings of this class, low-carbon steel grades St3PS, ST3GPS and ST3SP are used. carbon in such alloys is no more than 0.22%, and the carbon coefficient does not exceed 0.5% (for large diameters the frames are slightly expanded: 0.26% and 0.54, respectively). In addition, the steel contains silicon, manganese and other elements, the content of which is also regulated by GOST.

What is so good about the steel from which A500C reinforcement is made? The characteristics are much higher than those used previously, and the technology is less energy-consuming. Due to the reduced content of alloying additives, steel has good ductility even after exposure to welding.

For the same reasons, the reinforcement metal has good resistance to low temperatures and can be bent up to 180° while maintaining integrity. All European and most domestic construction companies have switched to using A500(C) class reinforcement, since increasing strength can be used to reduce the volume of overall reinforcement.

In addition, the rental of these products is slightly cheaper than outdated analogues; it is in this area that saving money does not lead to a decrease in the quality of reinforced concrete.

Production Features

TMU technology, which is most often used to produce A500(C) class reinforcement, uses the method of thermomechanical processing of rolled products. A500C reinforcement, the diameter of which is no more than 12 mm, can also be produced by the cold-rolling method, this is indicated in the marking, assigning class B500C.

The properties of cold-deformed reinforcement do not differ from the hot-rolled reinforcement described above; the only production limitation is the permissible rolled diameter. The STO ASChM 7-93 standard, developed back in 1993, was implemented and is still used at many metal rolling plants in our country.

GOST 52544-06 appeared much later only in order to bring production to a unified standard of inspection and quality control.

A3 and A500S fittings: what is the difference?

A500C replaced the outdated A400 (A3) fittings. The insufficient strength of the old-style bars led to several accidents, and experts began to develop a new class of reinforcing steel.

The main disadvantages of A3 are the inadmissibility of welding and insufficient ductility, which was increased in A500C, judging by actual measurements, by a whole quarter. Unscrupulous performers used A3 welding to speed up construction, thereby creating weak, fragile spots in the overall reinforcement fabric.

This led to premature failure of reinforced concrete. The steel used for the production of A500C can withstand resistance arc welding without loss of elasticity, which has led to the widespread transition of builders to the use of a new class of reinforcement.

In addition, the economic effect described above was achieved, which led to an average saving of 10% of the funds spent on reinforcement material, and in some areas the benefit was 20-25%. The scope of application of A500C fittings is much wider than A400, due to better frost resistance.

Application of A500C

According to building codes, this reinforcement has no structural restrictions on its use.

Domestic and Western builders everywhere use rolled products of this class both for the manufacture of all kinds of reinforced concrete products and for the monolithic construction of structures.

To connect the reinforcement, arc welding and traditional tying wire are used, and at critical structural units both types of connections are used at once. The bending strength of the product allows you to produce any necessary shapes from reinforcement

Interchangeability of fittings

Specialists from design organizations and builders easily implement A500C class reinforcement instead of A3, since such replacements do not incur additional costs. NIIZHB employees have already managed to conduct control observations and confirm the calculated increase in strength at many objects.

Actually, progress does not stand still, and some researchers claim that there is already an even more advantageous replacement for the A500C, namely the A500SP reinforcement with four rows of transverse ribs.

Already now, this type of profile steel is used in critical construction sites, in conditions of seismic activity, low temperatures and other harsh conditions.

It is allowed to supply class A–I rods with a diameter of up to 12 mm in coils. With a measured length of rods of 6 m, deviations of up to +50 mm are allowed; for longer lengths, deviations of up to 0 mm are allowed. Local curvature should not exceed 6 mm per 1 linear line. meter. The total curvature should not exceed the product of the permissible local curvature by 1 linear line. meter per rod length.

AC500S CLASS FITTINGS

Thermo-mechanically hardened, cold-resistant reinforcement.

This type of reinforcement is intended for use in reinforced concrete structures of critical and unique structures (nuclear and hydroelectric power plants, railway bridges, high-rise buildings), including those erected and operated in extreme conditions of low temperatures and seismic activity.

The new type of product shows high strength properties under the influence of low temperatures, dynamic and repeated loads.

Strict requirements for the chemical composition and mechanical properties have made it possible to increase the impact strength and ductility of steel, reduce and, for a number of welding methods, eliminate softening, and also significantly reduce the likelihood of brittle fractures of welded joints at very low subzero temperatures.

The grade composition of steels and the technology of thermal hardening of reinforced bars with increased cold resistance with a nominal diameter of 10 to 40 mm were developed by specialists of the rolling production and the scientific and technical laboratory of metallurgy and thermal strengthening of ZSMK together with the Research Institute of Reinforced Concrete.

New reinforcement of the Ac500C class, rolled at Zapsiba section mills, is recommended by NIIZhB for reinforcing reinforced concrete structures that require high-strength steel, especially in the territories of the north-eastern part of Russia with a winter minimum temperature of up to -600C and with seismicity of 7, 8 and 9 points according to Richter scale.

FITTINGS CLASS A500SP

A500SP class fittings with an effective periodic profile are completely interchangeable with A400S/A500S. In addition, it has a number of advantages:

  • a special four-sided profile, which allows you to determine the brand by eye; the adhesion strength to concrete is 15-20% higher than that of A500C
  • A new development of NIIZhB - a branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Research Center "Construction" (patent for invention of the Russian Federation No. 2252991).
  • Produced by the West Siberian Metallurgical Plant in diameters from 10 to 40 mm according to TU 14-1-5526-2006.
  • Meets the requirements of STO ASChM-7-93 and GOST R 52544-2006 standards.
  • Has a Certificate of Conformity from Mosstroysertifikatsiya.

The optimal combination of strength, ductility and rational shape of a periodic profile is the determining criterion for the preferred choice of reinforcing bars of the A500SP class for use in the most critical reinforced concrete structures.

The configuration of the new periodic profile not only makes the adhesion of reinforcement to concrete more reliable, but also allows you to accurately determine the class of reinforcing bars by eye without any additional marking. This significantly simplifies the incoming inspection of fittings at construction sites and construction industry enterprises.

The unique ability of the new profile to maintain the adhesion of reinforcement to concrete even with forces in the rods above the yield strength makes A500SP class reinforcing steel most suitable for structures designed to prevent progressive collapse. It is also advisable to use it in reinforced concrete structures for earthquake-resistant construction.

The use of reinforcing steel of class A500SP is regulated by the organization standard of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Research Center "Construction" STO 36554501-005-2006, which provides for the possibility of reducing the lengths of anchoring and overlap of rods, as well as increasing the design resistances in comparison with the requirements of the Code of Rules SP 52-101-2003 for A500C class fittings.

This standard applies to the design and production technology of reinforcement works for reinforced concrete building structures without pre-tensioning, made using thermomechanically strengthened reinforcing steel of class A500SP (TU 14-1-5526-2006), intended for operation in the climatic conditions of the Russian Federation in environments with non-aggressive and a slightly aggressive degree of impact with static load application.
With special justification, it is possible to use A500SP class reinforcement as prestressed reinforcement. The application of the standard applies to structures designed in accordance with Codes of Practice SP 52-101, SP 52-102 and SP 52-103. In structures designed according to other regulatory documents, the use of A500Sp class reinforcement requires special approval.

Which fittings are better to buy: A500C or A400?

21.01.2020

Choosing suitable building materials is not an easy task even for experienced professionals, let alone those who are building something for themselves. The developer is often faced with a choice between A400 and A500C reinforcement. In many ways they are similar and have the same properties. In the article we will analyze the differences between the a400 and a500c fittings, and help you choose the appropriate solution for your facility.

Technical characteristics of fittings of different classes

The main difference between the a3 (a400) and a500 fittings is that the first is not recommended to be fastened by arc welding, while the second is precisely intended for this. Where and why does this difference arise? It's all about the composition of the steel.

Less carbon and alloying additives make A500 steel fluid and flexible, which improves the quality of steel seams. They are highly durable and can withstand loads for years.

The seams of the a400 reinforcement are fragile and, due to the deformations that periodically occur in loaded structures, can crack over time.

Most of the other characteristics of a500c and a3 are similar; there is a serious difference only in the yield strength. A500 withstands tensile deformation 20% better, which has a positive effect on its flexibility. In fact, the a500c fittings are an improved version of the a400 brand, which differs from it only in composition.

They both have a periodic profile with longitudinal and transverse ribs, which ensures strong adhesion of the metal to the concrete mixture. The transverse ribs are located at an angle and are divided into 2 parts, which converge at one point. This form reliably fixes the metal rod in the building mixture.

The final structure is durable and can withstand significant loads. The profile diameter varies from 6 to 40 millimeters. Detailed characteristics for rods of each section are described in GOST 5781-82.

The documentation contains all the data necessary to calculate the strength of the structure and prepare engineering and construction documentation.

Scope of use of fittings

A3 reinforcement is intended for load-bearing structures of reinforced concrete structures. In residential construction, it is used to strengthen foundations, interfloor ceilings, load-bearing columns and walls. In industry, a3 and a500c reinforcement is used for the construction of load-bearing structures of complex shapes: bridges, dams, tank walls and other structures.

It should be noted here that the a400 and a500 fittings have another important difference - the a500 has increased corrosion resistance. Alloying additives allow steel to better cope with the active chemical environment.

A400 is not so good in this regard, and it is not recommended for use in some types of concrete and in climatic conditions with high humidity and high temperature changes.

Which fittings are best to buy?

Not the last factor when purchasing building materials is its price. There is no point in overpaying for more expensive material if its differences do not in any way affect the strength of the final structure. How much will the two types of fittings differ in price? The answer may seem surprising, but their cost is almost the same.

From this we can conclude that class A500c fittings are the best choice in most cases. You should abandon it in favor of the second option only if you are sure that the A400 in the project will be the best solution. It is also worth deciding whether to buy reinforcement in coils or take rods. On small projects, builders are accustomed to using rods.

Such buildings include:

  • low-rise buildings;
  • garages;
  • shopping pavilions;
  • other buildings up to 15 meters high.

For bridges, large vaults, large industrial facilities and other massive structures, coils are almost always used if the diameter of the reinforcement allows it to remain flexible.

What is the difference between the two forms of release? The length of the rods according to GOST is limited to 12 meters, and it is impossible to make a large continuous frame from them. And also when cutting the rods, there are residues that are not used and go to waste. There are no such problems with skeins, but working with them is much more difficult.

You can also consider purchasing fittings from other brands, but you need to know the main differences between the a500c and a400. There is a more affordable solution on the market, which is often used in combination with other types. A1 reinforcement has less strength, but costs 30% less. Using it to create a reinforcing mesh, which is periodically reinforced with more powerful rods, will reduce costs and maintain the necessary strength of the supporting structure.

More durable brands of fittings are also produced, which include:

  • A4 (A600).
  • A5 (A800).
  • A6 (A1000).

In some cases, it will be easier and more profitable to create a reinforcing mesh based on stronger steel alloys, but in order to know exactly which brand is best suited for the structure, it is necessary to carry out all the calculations. It is better to contact an experienced specialist for them.

A500S fittings: what it is, technical characteristics, what it is used for

A500s fittings are actively used in construction and industry.
With its help, foundations are built, reinforced concrete structures of buildings and structures are strengthened, giving them strength and additional rigidity. Reinforcement is also used for the manufacture of poles for power lines, beams and other supporting structures. The a500c marking describes several important parameters and means:

  • A – thermally and mechanically reinforced product made by hot-rolling.
  • 500 is the yield strength of the metal under normal conditions.
  • C – weldability (welding can be used to connect parts).

What is A500S fittings?

The a500c reinforcement is a round rod with special crescent-shaped protrusions and several longitudinal ribs, thanks to which it is firmly connected to the concrete and also ensures the strength of the structure. Protrusions and ribs do not intersect and do not form stress points that impair mechanical performance. There are several types of fittings:

  • Distributive - ensures the formation of a frame or mesh of a reinforced concrete product, connects the rods and evenly divides the load between them. It can be connected not only by welding, but also by twisting wire or special plastic and metal clamps. Sometimes both methods complement each other (welding areas are reinforced with wire and clamps).
  • Mounting – needed for assembling the frame and fixing the position of the working reinforcement during concreting. Sometimes it is removed after pouring concrete.
  • Working - takes on the main bending load from external influences and the own weight of the reinforced concrete products. The rods in the structure are arranged longitudinally. To ensure reliability, the characteristics of the working reinforcement must be carefully calculated at the design stage.

As a rule, factories and trading companies keep records of reinforcement in tons, and in construction projects it appears in linear meters.
To quickly convert tons to meters and vice versa, there are special tables and online calculators. The demand for a500c fittings is subject to seasonal fluctuations - not much is built in winter, and therefore the demand for products is less than in summer, when construction sites “come to life” and work in active mode.

Manufacturing

A500S reinforcement is produced by the hot-rolled method, due to which it has increased strength and responds well to compression and tension. The main regulatory documents that regulate production are GOST R 52544-2006, the STO ASChM 7-93 standard and the specifications of individual manufacturers. There are two forms of product release:

  • Coils (skeins) - with a small diameter of reinforcement (up to 12 mm).
  • Rods/rods (diameter from 16 mm). The standard length of the rods is 6 and 11.5 m. Other sizes can be ordered at the factory on an individual basis, if required by the construction project or design documentation.
THIS IS INTERESTING:  How many meters of reinforcement are in a ton

The reinforcement is made from thermally compacted steel St3SP, St3GPS and ST3PS with a fluidity index of 500 MPa - these are the grades that provide sufficient ductility, can be used at low temperatures and have proven themselves in construction. Another advantage of this steel is that it contains no more than 0.22% carbon, which ensures reliable, defect-free weldability of products made from it.

The production of metal products requires specialized equipment, proper organization of production, qualified engineering and working personnel.

All requirements are met by the leading factories for the production of a500c fittings in Russia - Chusovskoy, Nizhny Novgorod, Alapaevsk, Zlatoust metallurgical plants, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, Tula Metal Rolling Plant, Amurmetal, KamaStal and other enterprises.

Use and classification

Heat-strengthened fittings A500C deservedly occupy a leading position in the range of metallurgical enterprises. Its indisputable advantage is its low price with high quality characteristics - therefore it is widely used in industry and construction, and has supplanted all other types of metal products.

First of all, reinforcement is in demand during the construction of buildings and structures of any number of storeys made of reinforced concrete. Reinforcement ensures strength, lightness and durability of the structure at minimal cost.

The need to strengthen concrete products is dictated by its properties - it does not withstand tension, to which every building is inevitably exposed due to constant exposure to the environment.

Thanks to the invention and launch of a500c reinforcement on the market, it became possible to increasingly use monolithic and frame-monolithic construction technologies, which have significant advantages (speed of construction, the ability to choose geometric shapes and internal layouts, impeccable quality of the resulting surfaces with a reduction in the volume and cost of finishing work ).

In addition to the production of reinforced concrete products, the a500s grade is used for various metal products:

  • Fences and enclosures;
  • Stolbov;
  • Power line supports;
  • Grilles on windows and doors;
  • Fire ladders.

Advantages and disadvantages

Class A500C reinforcement has a huge number of advantages, making it indispensable in the rolled metal market:

  • Low price associated with the economy of the production process and low metal consumption;
  • Low consumption rate of reinforcement for the production of reinforced concrete products;
  • High strength, both of the reinforcement itself and of products made from it;
  • Excellent viscosity and ductility;
  • Rust resistance;
  • Possibility of use in cold climates (up to -55° C);
  • Good welding performance;
  • A500c reinforcement can be used in loaded and standard structures;
  • Thanks to more advanced technical characteristics, it is allowed to replace other classes of metal products (for example, A3) without additional approvals and recalculations of the project. If you need to make a reverse replacement, approval is necessary.

Surprisingly, it is impossible to counter the long list of advantages with disadvantages: in fact, there are simply none, because the a500c is a product in the creation of which many nuances were taken into account. The advantages of fittings are especially obvious when compared with similar brands.

Thus, A3 (A400) rods are made of steel with a carbon content of more than 0.2% - and this has a bad effect on ductility, strength, and weldability. In addition, A3 reinforcement has a low yield index (400 MPa) and increased flow rate to provide the necessary strength.

The a500c grade has higher resistance values, so the same structure will require much less than A3 (and, accordingly, construction will cost significantly less - which is extremely important for construction companies working in difficult economic conditions).

It is noteworthy that the a500c and A3 rods are very similar in appearance, and in the absence of markings, an inexperienced buyer can simply confuse them, which is often exploited by unscrupulous sellers. How to distinguish one product from another? The secret is simple - in the A500s the crescent-shaped protrusions do not intersect the longitudinal ribs, but in the A3 there is such an intersection.

How to choose fittings?

To select the correct fittings, it is necessary to take into account the compliance of its parameters with the design and construction documentation. If you take rods with other characteristics, this will negatively affect the strength and reliability of buildings and structures.

Cost is of no small importance in choosing fittings, because it will certainly affect production costs. The price depends on the steel grade, diameter, release form (rods/coils). It is highly undesirable to save money when purchasing: cheap products often have defects, which will affect the quality of the entire work.

A500S fittings: what it is, what it is used for, technical characteristics

Reinforcement is a rolled metal product that is widely used in various fields of construction. It is a product made of metal and steel, rarely non-ferrous metals, which is intended for use in reinforced concrete structures, to strengthen concrete.

A500S fittings: what is it?

There are many types of different fittings. In this article we will consider the A500C fittings. This type of material (GOST 52544 2006) is a rod of grade A5 with a diameter of 6-12 millimeters.

The letter A means that this is a hot-rolled reinforcement reinforced mechanically and thermally. The letter C indicates that this reinforcement is weldable. And the number 500 indicates the yield strength of the product.

Rebar 10 A500S theoretically weighs 0.617 kg. The average cost is 22,700 rubles per ton.

Reinforcement 12 A500S has a coil weight of 0.888 kg. There are 1126.13 meters in a ton. The average price is 25,000 rubles. per ton.

Usage

This type of reinforcement (GOST 52544 2006) is used to strengthen or reinforce the simplest reinforced concrete according to GOST 5781-81 or load-bearing structures according to GOST 10884-94.

Also, this construction fittings are classified into distribution, installation and working. In addition, according to the difference in strength characteristics, there are non-prestressed and prestressed reinforcement. Depending on the profile, it is divided into periodic profile reinforcement (a2) and smooth reinforcement (a1).

Sometimes reinforced reinforcement with index T is tried on.

Manufacturing

Considering the question: “A500S fittings: what is it?” – one cannot fail to mention its production.

More often, two methods are used to produce this brand: hot-rolled and cold-drawn.

The hot-rolled method produces rods, while the cold-drawn method allows the production of wire and rolled reinforcement. It should be noted that construction rod reinforcement has greater strength characteristics than other types.

It should also be noted that this class of reinforcement can be used at negative temperatures down to -55 degrees, in addition, the use of tack welding of arc-shaped joints is permissible.

  • Quantitative reduction in the consumption of reinforcement on structures due to an increase in the calculated resistance to loads.
  • Cost-effectiveness due to the low cost of thermomechanical processing.
  • Unification - involves replacing all classes of goods A400, A300 and A240 with new fittings.
  • Reliability due to the absence of the creation of a hardening zone at the welding site, and excellent plastic properties.
  1. Possible errors during the construction of houses when A400 was accidentally used in structures designed for A500C reinforcement. Currently they are trying to eliminate this by labeling. Previously, new fittings differed in profile, but different factories make notches on different products, which confuses consumers.
  2. Illiterate and improper handling, which becomes a real sabotage, long-term exposure to elevated temperatures can lead to the tempering of steel, which can cause the loss of its mechanical properties.
  3. Reduced corrosion resistance, because during the manufacture of the fittings heat treatment is carried out, followed by a massive attack of water to quickly take away more heat. Consequently, there is no formation of a scale layer, which protects against corrosion.
  4. Uneven mechanical characteristics along the length of the rod. This is more often the case with domestic products, because outdated equipment and technologies are used. European factories do not have such problems. In particular, this problem is perfectly solved at the Turkish metallurgical plant, equipped with European high-precision technology, which makes it possible to achieve uniform mechanical properties throughout the rod.

Cold-deformed reinforcement A500C - what is it? This type is made, as the name suggests, by cold deformation. The method is often used for the manufacture of small diameter products (3-12 millimeters), but in some countries it is widely used in the construction process. The main problem in their manufacture is the availability of ready-made wire rod with stable characteristics.

A visually similar type of reinforcement can be identified because it does not have a side rib and has three or more profiles. Such products are quite effective in factory conditions and are used on automatic lines.

One of its common types is known as welded mesh, which is completely free of scale. That is why resistance welding can be used in its application. It is possible to weld structures even in shielding gases. The disadvantage of such products follows from their advantages: first of all, in the absence of scale, the fittings rust very quickly, and welding of such fittings using a conventional electrode is not allowed.

Selection of fittings

When choosing cold-deformed reinforcement, you should definitely pay attention to the manufacturer, because many factors influence its quality.

It is for this reason that it is better to give preference to enterprises that produce their own wire rod, for example, the Belarusian Metallurgical, Magnitogorsk Hardware and Metallurgical or Cherepovets Steel Rolling Plants.

However, it is worth mentioning here that the greatest success in ensuring the quality of goods was achieved by the concrete products plant No. 18.

So, we looked at the question: “A500C fittings: what is it?” We must not forget about unscrupulous manufacturers. Currently, many manufacturers deliberately hide the abbreviation x/d in the A500C designation, which should be written at the bottom, indicating the method of production of the product. In general, the use of such fittings is very effective, because its characteristics are not inferior to hot-rolled ones and even surpass them in many respects

A500s fittings, technical characteristics

I decided to figure out how the a500 fittings differ from the a400 fittings . I bought both, now I’ll look into this issue. I have heard more than once from friends that when reinforcement is treated at a hot temperature, it simply melts and then collapses, and as it turns out, it’s not a matter of price.

Why do we need a500c fittings, the technical characteristics of which are quite extensive? It is made of hot-rolled steel for reinforcing reinforced concrete structures and is produced in rods or coils.

Reinforcement can be different, everything will depend on its mechanical properties and it is divided into classes, in addition to all this, it has recently received a wide range of applications and has no analogues. That is why it is produced by the manufacturer according to all the necessary technical standards and is part of the enterprises for the production of ferrous metallurgy.

What are the features of the a500s fittings, technical characteristics

The a500s fittings, the technical characteristics of which can be easily found, are produced in diameters of 6,8,10,12,14 mm in coils , and 16,18,20,22,25,28,32,36,40 mm in rods .

For not a long time, Russia produced reinforcement from carbon steel, the result was a low price and good welding, but it also had disadvantages: high ductility and low durability, corrosion often appeared on the reinforcement, by the way, it can be compared with what fiberglass reinforcement gives.

Therefore, several classes of such fittings have appeared. For example, a400 is, unfortunately, of poor quality, but has good welding and an affordable price. Excessive ductility appeared even when welding took place at low temperatures. After welding, the products very quickly acquired corrosion; during another welding, they simply fell apart and had to be tied together with binding wire.

Practical features

Now I noticed that a large proportion of projects were transferred to A500c class reinforcement, which is produced on a cheaper carbon steel base, but with such production, on the contrary, the mechanical properties are strengthened. As a result, the required strength and flexibility were achieved. Such reinforcement is easier to weld; in some cases, it is also tied with wire so that it is certain.

From the name, of course, it is clear that a500c reinforcement is used mainly for reinforcing products and structures made of reinforced concrete. But sometimes such reinforcement can be used for a periodic profile, for example, when creating a small part of metal products and metal structures with or without further coating.

What else is made from a500s reinforcement?

For example, these could be fire escapes, floor ladders, fences, window or door bars. In this way, the profile periodically played the role of a decorative function or a function of preventing slipping; for example, we can take the same staircase. I bought it at one price, now it’s different. Prices fluctuate, so I can’t say the exact cost for fittings.

the a500c reinforcement has convinced me , I checked everything myself and told you what I got, however, it is a little more expensive, but it is better to take it and be completely sure that it will not fall apart. By the way, it is resistant to corrosion, it can be melted several times, and corrosion does not appear in any case.

Any products that I have made based on the A400, to my regret, are no longer suitable for use, deformation from corrosion and decay is noticeable, in other words, it is already dust. All products, such as wrought iron gates, stairs and iron decorations for doors made from A500C reinforcement, are in good condition, and there are no signs of deformation or corrosion visible on them.

You can also read about the characteristics of M200 concrete. And the video in the article will show an incredibly interesting process of making reinforcement, which will be a revelation for many.
