This method has come to us since time immemorial, and modern science has only equipped it with mechanized productive units.

Often, amalgamation is used in this process, which can significantly reduce the loss of the precious metal, which, when interacting with mercury, remains in full at the bottom of the barrel.

If gold is contained in the ore in small quantities, it is separated using cyanidation technology. The same method makes it possible to extract the remains of precious metal from waste mine dumps of washed rock.

A positive decision on the organization of a mine is made if, during test washings, there is at least 3 grams of pure gold per 100 kilograms of ore. If the amount of precious metal is 8-10 grams, then such a deposit is considered rich.

Gold mining in Russia - key features

✪ Private mining is prohibited in our country. Therefore, gold mining is carried out by large gold mining enterprises, which, despite their impressive capabilities, are not able to fully cover all promising territories.

✪ Insufficient funding for geological exploration does not allow the discovery of rich deposits in areas with difficult climates located in Chukotka, Yakutia and Siberia.

✪ The Krasnoyarsk Territory provides the country with the most gold, accounting for about 47% of all production. This is followed by Chukotka - 24% and the Republic of Sakha - 22%.

✪ Obtaining a license for gold mining by private entrepreneurs involves a large number of bureaucratic formalities.

✪ Currently, Russia ranks third in the ranking of gold-mining countries, behind only China and Australia.

Gold production in 2019 may amount to about 250-300 tons, which will significantly replenish the country’s gold and foreign exchange reserves. However, taking into account the problems listed above, this industry does not use the powerful natural potential of explored and as yet unknown deposits. Perhaps in the near future there will be positive changes in this segment that will take our country to first place in the world in gold mining.
