Test of RESANTA series welding machines

How to choose a Resanta welding machine

All devices are supplied in cardboard boxes with the same equipment: operating instructions, carrying strap, welding cables.

The length of the holder cables for all devices is 190 cm, the ground cable is 120 cm.

The cable packages are not marked, but differ noticeably in cross-section. So, the 160K device is equipped with very thin cables, with a cross-section of 10-12 mm2; devices for 190 and 220 A are equipped with cables with a cross-section of 14 mm2. The largest cable cross-section for a device with a declared current of 250A is about 16mm2. It may be noted that copper-plated aluminum welding cables have an insufficient cross-section and will heat up during operation.

It is also worth noting that the bayonet connectors of welding machines for 220 and 250A must be of a larger cross-section in order to avoid contact burnout.

As for the power cable, the one and a half meter wire on the younger models has an insufficient cross-section: 1.5mm2 on the 160 and 190K models, a strange 3x1.8mm cable on the 220K device. There are no questions about the power cable of the 250A device.

Expert opinion

According to our experts, among the advantages of the “K” line are neat machine assembly, a sufficient level of inverter maintainability, as well as the use of a new generation of IGBT transistors GT50JR22. The new elements are characterized by increased speed and low saturation voltage compared to traditional FGH*40N60.

New transistors make it possible to increase the clock frequency of the inverter and reduce the size of reactive elements: input capacitors, pulse transformer, etc.

However, in pursuit of small dimensions, the developers worsened the cooling conditions: the radiators became smaller compared to the full-size version of the devices, and the fan power did not change.

In order to prevent the compact source from eternal overheating, engineers had to reduce the maximum welding currents of the inverters using a PWM controller. Those. instead of 160, 190, 220 and 250A, the devices will be able to produce only 120, 130, 170 and 180A, respectively.

To find out what the sources are, we will connect the inverters to the AWR-224 welding process recorder, load them with current using ballast rheostats and take the current-voltage characteristics of the devices.

Let's start with the open circuit voltage of the 2 youngest inverters in the series. The stated values are 85 and 80 V for 160K and 190K, respectively. Actually 82 and 65 V.

For 220K and 250K, the manufacturer declares the no-load voltage to be 80V; according to the I-V characteristics of the devices, we can say that both 220K and 250K produce 82V at no-load.

We can say that the open circuit voltage of the three devices corresponds to the parameters declared by the manufacturer. Resanta 190K - produces an open circuit voltage lower than the declared value, but still within the permissible values.

Welding currents and shape of the current-voltage characteristic

Let's consider the current-voltage characteristics of the devices and draw conclusions about the operating properties of inverters.

Judging by the graph, the maximum current of a welding machine declared as 160-amp is only 120A. The short-circuit current of the source is 160A.

A welding machine with a stated current rating of 190A actually produces 138A. Short circuit current at maximum current 164A.

SAI 220K produces 162A instead of the stated 220A. Short circuit current - 235A.

The last participant in the test also does not meet the characteristics indicated in the passport - the maximum welding current of the device is 183A instead of the declared 250. The short-circuit current of the SAI 250K device is 233A.

To summarize, we can say that none of the test participants passed the test.
The rated current deception for each of the devices is 40(160), 52(190), 58(220) and 67A(250) - respectively. That is, the price of inverters includes clean Chinese air, which amounts to 25 to 30% of the price of the device. As for the shape of the current-voltage characteristic, in general it can be assumed that the ignition process and the stability of the arc should be at an acceptable level.

Mon

Since the current characteristics of all 4 devices are overestimated, the PN indicated on the inverter nameplates is also not true. To imagine what load duration the sources have, let’s calculate their approximate operating mode.

To do this, all devices will be loaded with their real maximum current and placed in a heat chamber.

Based on the time that each source can spend in the thermal circuit without switching off, it will be possible to draw conclusions about the real voltage of the devices and check our assumptions with a long-term load current.

When a professional welder comes to the store to buy a new device, he first of all pays attention to the continuous load current of the inverter, which is indicated on the nameplate. These numbers indicate the threshold current values that the welder can set at the source without fear of the machine shutting down due to overheating, regardless of the operating time. Incorrect data indicated in the “PN100%” column can mislead the welder and lead to forced downtime.

ISA 160K is sent first to the thermal chamber. It is loaded with a maximum current of 120A and the time is recorded. The overheating indicator activates at 02 min 36 sec, or 2.6 min. This means that the PN ISA 160K is 26%. Let's check the data obtained and calculate the long-term load current of the inverter: (Idl=Inom X √PN, 120Ax√0.26=61A). By controlling the current with a recorder, we set the source to 61A and install the device in the heat chamber.

We wait for the temperature in the circuit to settle at 40C and load the ISA 160K with the rated current. As you can see at the current of 61A, the device was able to stand in the heat chamber for an hour without going into overheating protection. This means the device’s PN is 26% - it can be considered confirmed.

Instead of 100A of continuous load current indicated on the inverter nameplate, the real value of the current, which will not lead to shutdown of the source due to overheating, is only 61A.

We repeat the manipulations with ISA 190K. At a maximum current of 140A, the device was able to spend 2 minutes 14 seconds, or 2.2 minutes, in the heat chamber. This means that the device’s PN is 22% instead of the stated 70.

Let's calculate the long-term load current and check our assumptions regarding the actual PN of the device: (Idl=Inom X √PN,140x√0.22=65A). Let's load the inverter with a current of 65A and place the device in a heat chamber for an hour.

After 60 minutes, the protection did not work, which means the 22% PN can be considered confirmed. The actual continuous load current is almost 2 times less than the declared one: 65A instead of 120.

At a maximum current of 160A, the ISA 220K spent 1 minute 56 seconds, or 1.9 minutes, in the heat chamber. This means that the PN of the device instead of 70% is only 19%. Let's test our hypothesis. Let's load the source with a continuous load current of 70A, which we calculated based on the data obtained (Idl=Inom x √PN, 160x√0.19=70A). The thermal protection did not work within an hour, which means 19% of the PT can be considered confirmed. ISA 220K can “boast” of doubling the continuous load current: 70A instead of 140.

ISA 250K, at maximum current, spent 3 minutes 13 seconds in the heat chamber until it turned off. or 3.2 min. Let's check the PN we received at 32% with a long-term load current (Idl=Inom x √PN, 180x√0.32=101A). Let's send ISA 250K to the thermal chamber for an hour, loading the source with the results of our calculations - a current of 101A. After an hour, there was no shutdown due to overheating, which means that the PN of 32% can be considered confirmed. The continuous load current of the device is increased by 60A - 101 instead of 160A

Results: calculations of the actual PN of the device are very approximate. They give an approximate idea of what current set at the source can lead to a protective shutdown of the device. Only development engineers can calculate the real PN of an inverter at the stage of designing the device and selecting its components.

Checking the performance of devices at reduced voltage

Garages and cottages are the most common place for welding equipment to work. Suburban electrical networks and box wiring cannot always boast of stability. There are often situations when network drawdowns can reach 160V and below. In order to check how the equipment behaves under low voltage conditions, we simulate the drawdown using LATR: we lower the supply voltage from 190 to 160V in steps of 10 volts.

During the test, we will use electrodes with a diameter of 2.5 mm OK 46.00 - with a rutile coating.

The test showed that welding with all machines in the line, with the exception of the 160K model, is possible when the voltage in the supply network drops to 160V. As for the younger “K” series apparatus, at 160V in the socket, ignition becomes unsatisfactory, and the welding arc often breaks.

Additional functions

The instructions for the devices say that all inverters are equipped with antistick , hotstart and arc afterburner functions. Let's check if this is true.

Let's start with the antistick . As you can see, the separation of the electrodes from the parts being welded occurs without any difficulties on all inverters. The electrode is not calcined. The presence of the anti-stick function is confirmed.

Hot Start. To check whether the devices have a hot start function, an oscilloscope and a current shunt are used. Judging by the graphs, there is no hot start on any of the four inverters. There is no surge in current and no reduction to operating parameters.

Arc force. The arc amplification function, which is introduced into the functionality of the inverter, to prevent sticking of the electrode and help in separating a drop of electrode metal during the welding process, judging by the current-voltage characteristics of the devices, this function is absent on the Resanta “K” devices.

VRD . This option is not stated in the functionality of the devices. In fact, it is also absent.

Devices in operation

Next, we will weld control seams on pre-prepared metal 4 mm thick, with electrodes OK 46.00 (rutile coating, diameter 2.5 mm), UONII 13/55 (base coating, 4 mm) and draw conclusions about how the inverters behave during real welding.

During testing, it turned out that all devices cope well with welding with 2.5 mm electrodes. Ignition is confident, the arc is stable and elastic.

As for electrodes with a diameter of 4 mm, there is a noticeable lack of current on models 160K and 190K. The device regulators have to be set to maximum values.

Two other inverters with welding with a 4 mm electrode cope normally: the arc does not break, the process is quite comfortable.

Results

Most of the characteristics of Resanta devices, series “K”, do not correspond to the declared ones. The discrepancy between the promised and actual functionality concerns both the maximum welding currents and PN of the inverter, and the lack of additional functions of arc force and hot start.

About 3 years ago, the RESANTA SAI 160 , and then no discrepancy between the real and declared welding currents was found. Most likely, the manufacturer, in the wake of the crisis of recent years, decided not to lose profit, but to take the path of deception.

At this point, the comparison of RESANTA compact series devices can be considered complete. The choice of equipment is always yours.

Review of Resanta welding machines

How to choose a Resanta welding machine

The most popular welding method for beginners is considered to be manual arc welding with an inverter machine using electrodes coated with a protective layer.

To learn how to use this unit, there is no need to receive special education, just practice on small metal parts for a short time, have a package of electrodes, a stationary 220 V network and a little patience.

During training, you will master pipe welding, understand how to weld products of different thicknesses, and what modes to set when working.

When choosing a welding machine, you need to decide on its type and the type of work that you will perform. There is no point in buying powerful, expensive equipment for use at home. But looking for a model at an affordable price and not much functionality is the right decision. We invite you to familiarize yourself with welders from the Resanta company . Inverters are not bulky, perform the assigned tasks and have reasonable prices.

Characteristics of inexpensive Resanta models

The Resanta brand manufacturer produces many welding machines, but now we want to focus on the SAI (Welding Machine Inverter) model range, which are designed for a small number of jobs and are good helpers for solving everyday problems. These inverters are not suitable for production scale.

1, Resanta SAI 190. Such a purchase will be justified if you are a follower of the “golden mean”. When you have already outgrown basic welders, but have not yet reached the level of a professional device, then the optimal solution would be to purchase equipment of this class. You will be able to firmly fasten the metal structure of country houses and hone your basic skills. The cost of this device is about 6.5 thousand rubles.

2, Resanta SAI 160. Similar to the previous model, but power consumption is 20 Amperes higher. It costs 400 rubles more, but has the advantage of silent mode. With the same functionality as SAI 140, but if a few hundred rubles don’t do the trick for you, it’s better to buy it.

3, Resanta SAI 140. The power of this device is no more than 140 Amperes. Its cost is about 5,000 rubles. This is the most primitive and simple welder, but for those who have never welded, it is an excellent option to start with. Available functions such as “Antistick” and “Hot Start” will help the novice welder light the arc and make the work easier. Over time, when you understand the technology, we recommend buying a more powerful inverter.

4, Resanta SAI 220. This unit is used for frequent welding work. It is not considered semi-professional equipment, but it has proven itself to be a reliable garden assistant. The necessary functionality for beginners is available, as with all inverters, you can weld any type of metal, and the low weight allows you to hang the device on your shoulder and perform hard-to-reach work. The price of SAI 220 is no more than 8,000 rubles.

5, Resanta SAI 250. This device, which is close to semi-professional welding, is considered the upper limit of inexpensive welding inverters. When working with it, you can not only learn to weld, but also develop your skills independently. The unit is equipped with a cooling system that prevents the welder from overheating.

The diameter of the electrodes used for work can reach six millimeters, which was impossible in previous models. Thanks to this, you will be able to weld thick metals. If you are not too strapped for money, then spending about $140 will buy an almost semi-professional device that will last for many years.

conclusions

Resanta welding machines of the SAI line will take their rightful place in your workshop. Yes, they do not have great functionality, but they can connect two separate pieces of metal firmly and efficiently. Moreover, a large network of service centers, which is located in Russia and the CIS countries, will eliminate malfunctions and breakdowns free of charge if they arise during the warranty period.

The power consumed by the welding machine is not large, and such an indicator will be more of a plus in areas remote from the city. How do you feel about the inexpensive Resanta line, have you had any experience in welding with this device. We will be grateful for your feedback.

All the pros and cons of the Resanta brand inverter

The Resanta inverter, like a number of similar equipment, produces high current, which is a decisive factor in comparison with the classic AC transformer used for welding before the advent of more advanced equipment.

In order to be able to take advantage of the benefits of welding connections of elements in a domestic environment, it is necessary to have a device such as a Resanta inverter or another analogue, since the standard parameters of the electrical network (voltage 220 V and frequency 50 Hz) are not enough to implement such tasks.

Application area

In fact, the Resanta inverter is one of the modern versions of welding machines. Until the user became acquainted with such units, transformers and rectifiers for welding were in use. In comparison with them, an inverter for a home is much lighter, and therefore easier to operate. Under these conditions, equipment productivity increases significantly.

All these factors make it possible to use units such as the Resanta inverter for both domestic and industrial purposes. At home, it is necessary to convert the standard network parameters to provide a sharp jump for electric welding. Having an inverter available, you can do this without difficulty, taking into account the convenience of the design and the availability of elements for transportation.

Detailed information about the manufacturer

During its existence, this brand has significantly strengthened its position in the Russian market. Today it is one of the largest manufacturers of various types of electrical equipment. Among the product range there is a Resanta inverter. The high degree of popularity of the proposed technology is due to the attractive ratio of high quality and reasonable cost in current conditions.

But the company does not stop there, but constantly improves the equipment it produces. Among others, in addition to products such as the Resanta brand inverter, a number of the following devices are offered:

  • Compact Series;
  • Prof series products;
  • Devices operating at reduced voltage values;
  • Semi-automatic inverter;
  • Units with argon arc welding function;
  • Protective equipment for work, in particular, masks for electric welding.

As you can see, the company strives to cover almost all areas where the use of such equipment is allowed. An inverter manufactured by Resanta may differ from similar models with other design features from the range not only in appearance, but also in the range of permissible voltage values.

Design features and model range

Inverters are presented in a wide range. Each model differs from the other primarily in the value of the maximum operating current. There are separate lines of such equipment: SAI, SAI COMPACT, SAI PROF, SAI PN. A lightweight inverter of the Resanta brand can be selected from the Compact series. At the same time, the main parameters practically do not differ from those in analogues of standard AIS devices; the only difference is more compact dimensions and less weight.

Watch the video and product review:

The SAI series inverter from Resant is equipped with a number of additional and extremely important functions for operation. The design provides protection against overheating, the so-called “anti-sticking”, “hot start” and “arc force”. The inverter of the PROF line from Resant differs from other devices in the ability to set the required value of the welding current using a digital panel. Another difference is a wider operating voltage range (up to 260 V).

The Resanta welding inverter can be used with different values of electrical parameters. The designation of each model indicates the maximum permissible operating current. Also, in the technical characteristics of such a device as a Resanta brand welder, there is a limitation on the level of current consumption. Additionally, the degree of protection of the device, the diameter of the electrode, the welding arc voltage and no-load voltage are indicated.

The welding inverter from the manufacturer Resanta is also characterized by such a parameter as the duration of the load, which allows you to estimate the duration of operation of the device at maximum load values.

The operation of this equipment is based on the principle of converting alternating mains voltage of a standard frequency value into a direct voltage of 400 V, after which the Resanta inverter welding machine converts this value into high-frequency alternating voltage.

Pros and cons of the device

If we compare Resanta brand equipment with analogues that were used before the advent of a fundamentally new type of equipment, we can highlight a number of positive qualities:

  • Compact dimensions, and even the most productive Resanta inverter electric welding machine will have several times less weight and overall body dimensions;
  • Easy control - due to the fact that the design provides a digital panel, thanks to which the inverter electric welding machine from the manufacturer Resanta can be controlled as simply as possible;
  • Overheat protection prevents equipment failure;
  • The high level of performance that distinguishes the Resanta brand inverter electric welding machine determines the rapid performance of the work, while the efficiency of the equipment can reach 95%;
  • Lightness allows the unit to be transported to the required distances, thanks to which the SAI welder becomes a mobile device.

Among the positive qualities that are determined by the design features of such equipment, one can highlight the security of the units.

This means that the Resanta SAI welding inverter and analogs from other lines of this manufacturer are made in a completely closed housing, which significantly reduces the likelihood of a large amount of contaminants getting inside the mechanism.

Some models of equipment such as the Resanta SAI welding inverter are equipped with a special case where the device is placed. This simplifies the task of transporting it to the welding site.

Let's watch the video, the advantages and disadvantages of welders:

However, the Resanta SAI welding inverter also has its drawbacks, for example, the relatively high price of the units themselves, as well as their maintenance. Thus, these models of maximum performance (with an operating current above 300 A) will cost approximately 35,000 rubles.

Customer ratings

As for the working side of the issue, the electric welding inverter from the manufacturer Resanta of the SAI line is in good standing with users. Electrical equipment of this brand has been offered on the Russian market for more than three years.

And during this time, there have been practically no complaints about the quality of operation of such equipment as the electric welding inverter of the Resanta company, model SAI; on the contrary, with unstable voltage and surges in electrical networks, it is quite possible to use electrodes with a diameter of 3 mm.

However, there are some nuances that become clear during operation. The point is that the welding electric inverter of the Resanta brand of the SAI series is almost never serviced under warranty, since it is extremely difficult to find a service center. And at the end of the allotted service life, the cost of repairs, if necessary, is quite high.

Thus, the welding electric inverter of the Resanta company of the SAI line has all the qualities to carry out the relevant work. The wide range of products of this brand allows you to select the most suitable device in terms of compliance of the electrical parameters with the assigned tasks.

If the goal is to purchase a welding inverter of the Resanta brand of the SAI line of low productivity with minimal values of electrical parameters, then you will not have to spend large sums. However, the cost of maintenance is still a big problem for most.

Fubag or Resanta welding machines: which is better? News from Ufa and Bashkiria

As an advertisement

When choosing a welding machine for domestic needs, people usually look only at two indicators: cost and welding current. Few people understand the technical features and current-voltage characteristics, so there is no point in showing graphs of voltage, current dips and other complex tables to the average person. So what indicators should you look for in order to choose a welding machine with enough power for everyday use?

In order to find the answer to this question, it is necessary to compare two welding inverters from the same price category, such as Resanta and Fubag!

Similarities between Resanta and Fubaga

It's worth noting that Fubag is slightly more expensive compared to Resanta, although this is a minor difference. With a declared welding current of 160 amperes, the cost of the devices is about 6,000 rubles, and with a current of 200 amperes, around 8,000 rubles.

Both representatives have the same quick-release connector with a diameter of 25 mm2, the same cables, both in length and in the thickness of the braided copper wire. Both Resanta and Fubag work stably when the voltage drops to 180 volts, but with a further decrease in voltage they already require a stabilizer.

The assembly is reliable, the boards of both devices are covered with a protective varnish, nothing is loose. For cooling, Resanta uses two fans, Fubag has one, but more powerful!

Comparative characteristics of Resanta and Fubag

To compare the functionality of competitors, you can consider several important characteristics:

  1. Welding at low currents. It is needed in order not to burn through the thin sheet metal. Resanta cooks perfectly at low currents without replacing the electrode, while Fubag at currents below 50 Amps refuses to ignite an electrode with a diameter of 3 mm. You have to either increase the welding current, which risks burning, or change the electrode to a smaller diameter.
  2. The actual current is at its maximum level. It is no secret that for many manufacturers this figure differs from the declared one. So Resanta SAI160 and Fubag IR160 show the same maximum current in the region of 145-150 amperes.
  3. Maintainability. Despite the fact that both welding machines have spare parts for repair, in the case of Fubag, repair is almost comparable to buying a new welder, since the main controller is soldered on a common board, which in case of burnout requires replacement of the entire unit. And Resanta is superior to many competitors in maintainability.
  4. Hot start and anti-stick. In terms of these functions, the devices are completely identical. This is very convenient for novice welders with no experience.

How to choose a welding machine for your home?

Almost any welding machine is suitable for domestic needs, since metal up to 3-4 mm thick is usually welded at home or in the garage. For this, an electrode with a diameter of 3 mm and a welding current of 160 Amps are enough.

If you need to weld thick metal with a thickness of more than 10 mm, then the welding current is needed from 200 amperes and above. Welding in this case should be done with a 6-8 mm electrode.

Considering the fact that the declared current will always be 10-20% lower than the real one, it is necessary to buy a welding machine with indicators that exceed the requirements for welding current. So, when planning to work with a triple electrode for metal of 4 mm, a device with an indicator of 160 amperes will be rather weak. You need to take about 200 amperes with a current.

When comparing the popular welding machines Resanta and Fubag, Resanta deserves preference.

Advantages of Resanta:

  • Stable welding at low currents
  • Lower cost
  • Maintainability

Both welding machines are great for home use. In terms of price and characteristics, they are almost completely identical, although they have minor differences from each other!

Welding inverters "Resanta": we understand the devices of a famous brand

Welding equipment such as the Resanta inverter is already well known in our country and is popular among both professional specialists and home craftsmen. The trademark itself, as well as the company whose specialists are developing Resanta devices, are registered in Latvia, and production facilities are located in China.

Welding equipment "Resanta"

On the domestic market, equipment of this brand is represented by several categories of equipment for welding and more:

  • equipment for welding in semi-automatic mode - Resanta SAI PA;
  • inverter type welding machines – Resanta SAI;
  • inverters capable of operating at reduced supply voltage - AIS PN;
  • equipment that can be used to perform welding in a shielding gas (argon) environment - SAI AD;
  • devices intended for professional use (on such devices the welding arc can be adjusted) - Resanta SAI PROF;
  • a series of highly compact equipment – SAI K;
  • inverter devices for plasma cutting – Resanta IPR;
  • inverters operating from a three-phase electrical network with a voltage of 380 V - Resanta SAI 315.

4 series of welding inverters "Resanta"

Among the reviews about welding machines of this brand, you can find both positive and negative. The technical characteristics, functionality and cost of Resanta brand equipment make it a good choice for equipping a home workshop. As experienced welders note in their reviews, such inverters have a lighter welding arc than machines from other brands.

Both professional welders, in their reviews, and representatives of organizations involved in the sale and service of Resanta equipment, point out the instability of its quality.

Some devices that are actively used in production processes can work without breakdowns for years, but there may also be some that have to be taken to a service center for repairs after just a week of operation.

At the same time, the most positive reviews for Resanta equipment come from those who use it for work in a home workshop, on a personal plot or in a country house.

An important parameter for all categories of equipment manufactured under the Resanta brand is the on-time (ON) duration (or load duration - LO). The value of this parameter is 70%, which means that in a period of time equal to 10 minutes, the Resanta inverter can operate continuously for 7 minutes, and 3 must be allocated for it to cool down.

Rules for choosing Resanta welding machines

If you are choosing a welding machine to carry out work at home or in the country, then it is better to pay attention to the Resanta SAI model or its modification, specially designed for operation at low voltage (SAI PN).

Although the manufacturer indicates that the equipment can operate with deviations of the standard supply voltage from –30% (154 V) to +10% (242 V), such inverters operate effectively provided that the voltage does not fall below 190 V.

If the voltage in the electrical network is even lower, then welding can only be performed with electrodes of small diameter.

Welding inverter Resanta SAI-190PN for operation from reduced mains voltage

It is no secret that the voltage in our electrical networks (especially in rural areas) rarely corresponds to the standard value of 220 V. There are situations when the network does not produce even 190 V voltage.

If you live in an area where voltage drops in the network are a common occurrence, it is better to purchase an inverter specially designed for such cases - AIS PN.

The technical capabilities of the Resanta devices of this series allow them to work effectively even with voltage drops to 140–160 V.

If the important parameters of a welding inverter for you are its dimensions and weight, then you should pay attention to the devices of the “Compact” series. Inverters of this series are distinguished by their reduced dimensions, and their weight is 1–1.5 kg less than that of equipment from other model lines.

Comparison of Resanta welding inverters by size and weight

Resanta inverters belonging to other categories are more suitable for semi-professional and professional use. They are distinguished not only by increased power, but also by expanded functionality, which is often not in demand by home craftsmen. There is no point in purchasing such devices for your workshop, since you will have to pay for unnecessary functionality.

A specific inverter model, if the category of this equipment has already been determined, is selected depending on how much welding current you need to perform the work. It is quite easy to determine what maximum current a particular device can generate: the value of this parameter is indicated in the designation of each model.

The main differences between the SAI-PN and SAI-PROF lines from other models

You should choose a device based on the maximum welding current depending on the thickness of the part you are going to weld and what diameter of the electrodes will be used for this. Thus, for working with electrodes with a diameter of 4 mm, Resanta inverters are suitable, which are capable of generating a welding current of at least 190 A. Naturally, to work on such devices, you can use any electrodes of a smaller diameter.

Electrodes with a diameter of 3 mm can be used for welding using those inverters that generate a welding current of 140 A. More powerful (and, accordingly, more expensive) devices that are capable of delivering a welding current of 220 and 250 A are used to work with electrodes with a diameter of 5 and 6 mm. When making a choice, always answer the question whether you will need such a powerful device at the moment or in the future.

Summary table of technical characteristics of Resanta welding inverters

How is power supplied to the equipment?

One of the reasons for the high popularity of Resanta brand inverters as equipment for the home workshop is that they successfully operate from a conventional electrical network with a voltage of 220 V. Some models, which is especially convenient for performing work in places where there is no centralized power supply, can operate from autonomous sources of electric current - gasoline or diesel generators.

It is very important that the electrical outlet to which the Resanta inverters are connected is grounded, since they comply with protection class IP 21.

So that when the inverter is operating, the machine installed in the electrical panel does not turn off the power supply, it must withstand a current of at least 16 A (when welding at a current of 190 A).

To connect the welding inverter, you need to make a dedicated power line

Features of operation of Resanta inverters

Before connecting the inverter to the electrical network, it is necessary to connect the power cable and ground cable to its connectors, and also check that its switch is in the off state. Before pressing the power button, it is necessary to set the minimum value of the welding current on the equipment.

The power switch for Resanta inverters is located on the rear panel

The electrical cable that connects the inverter to the power supply must be completely unwinded from the reel so that it does not create an inductor that could negatively affect the welding process. In addition, in order for the Resanta brand inverter to serve you for a long time and allow you to effectively perform welding operations, you must adhere to a number of recommendations.

  • It is not recommended to work in the immediate vicinity of the inverter with an angle grinder or other tools, which are a source of metal dust that can damage welding equipment.
  • There should be enough free space around the inverter, and its body should not be covered with cloth or other objects. This rule must be followed in order to ensure effective ventilation of the equipment.
  • Inverters react very critically to high humidity, so they can be used and stored in dry rooms. It is also necessary to protect them from direct exposure to precipitation.
  • If you brought the device into a warm room from the cold, you can start using it only after the condensation on the internal elements has completely dried (about 2 hours).
  • The inside of the inverter should be regularly cleaned of accumulated dust, this will extend its life and minimize the risk of sudden failure.

Popular Latvian welding machines of the Resanta brand

Often, manufacturers of welding equipment do not limit themselves to producing one model. To gain a place in the construction power tools market, it is necessary to satisfy the needs of each segment. For this reason, any of the domestic or foreign brands is ready to offer a whole line of welding machine models suitable for both domestic use and professional work on an industrial scale.

One of the market niches is consistently occupied by Resanta inverters, distinguished by their high performance indicators. The manufacturer specializes in the manufacture of equipment for manual arc welding. The MMA operating mode has its own distinctive features. Welding is carried out with consumable stick electrodes, the diameter of which directly depends on the capabilities of the device. Manual arc welding is used when working with ferrous sheet metals.

This method is widespread in the construction and installation of metal structures, as well as in everyday life when carrying out minor repair work. Thanks to the fact that the manufacturer is ready to present various modifications that differ in their performance, Resanta equipment has found its consumer among professionals and amateurs.

History of brand development

Resanta welding machines are the only representatives of arc welding equipment in their price class. Indeed, compared to analogues, all models compare favorably in cost. The domestic consumer gradually developed the mindset that low cost is a direct indicator of low functionality or quality.

However, the Resanta model range allows a variable approach to the issue of choosing a device, both for a specific area of application and for a wide profile. In simple words, offers from the manufacturer should be of interest to everyone involved in welding work.

The company's experience begins to accumulate in 1993, when for the first time the electrical equipment market was replenished with devices bearing the Resanta brand. Initially, all production facilities were localized in the city of Riga. The newly formed enterprise was engaged in the production of voltage stabilizers. After analysts recorded an increase in demand, the company decided to expand, not only in terms of product range, but also geographically.

Resanta entered the Russian market in 2003. Almost immediately the company established itself as a responsible and customer-oriented supplier. The quality of Resanta products meets all modern standards. Production technologies do not stand still. Developers are constantly introducing advanced technologies to make the equipment competitive.

Multi-level quality control accompanies the entire production cycle. Attracting new customers is facilitated by well-functioning work with potential and actual customers. First of all, consumers note the high level of support service. In addition, a network of representative offices has been opened in Russia to provide service and repair of welding machines.

The inverter principle of voltage conversion is that the entire process consists of two time periods. During the first period, alternating current becomes constant through transformations, and in the second period, alternating current is again obtained, but with an increased frequency. For welding in MMA mode, coated electrodes are needed. Absolutely all models are considered compact, which allows them to be transported or used for high-altitude work.

Model categories

All welding equipment from the Resanta company can be divided into several groups, the main of which, naturally, are welding machines. However, the number of device modifications is quite large, and therefore is divided into separate categories that combine models according to the main technical parameter.

  • Resanta SAI PA. This group includes those operating in semi-automatic mode. The semi-automatic machine implies the presence of a mechanism for drawing the wire, and the delivery set also includes a control valve for changing the gas supply speed. All control is carried out from a single panel.
  • SAI inverter. In fact, this category should have opened the line, since these were the inverters that the company initially produced. They were designed to operate in MMA mode using piece electrodes.
  • Resanta SAI PN. Model adapted for operation at reduced voltage. It is often called simplified, since it is designed for household needs and is relatively inexpensive. The minimum supply voltage threshold is 140 V.
  • Model range of SAI AD. Designed to work in TIG mode, that is, argon arc welding.
  • Resanta SAI PROF. It is considered a professional device, as it provides for adjustment of the welding arc. Even more adapted to low voltage. Used in congested networks.
  • Model SAI K. The index “K” denotes a feature characteristic of the entire line - compactness. Welding machines are highly mobile and are used in confined spaces and during high-altitude work.

Features of choosing a model

When you decide to purchase a suitable and functional welding machine, you need to make the right choice. First of all, having given preference to the Resanta brand, you should know that real owners consider the devices of this company to be quite successful, which have many advantages and are not without their disadvantages.

It is traditionally believed that Resanta devices are more suitable not for industrial use, but for home use.

Professionals note that the devices of this company are very convenient, but during prolonged use they often suffer from unexpected breakdowns. Of course, the work may be different, and here you should not blindly blame the manufacturer. This is why there is a stereotype about inverters as amateur models.

The duty cycle of all devices is 70%. This indicator indicates the time of direct welding out of the total amount of time the device was turned on. It should be noted that the figure is not the lowest, given the low cost.

It is recommended for domestic use to pay attention to models of the SAI or SAI PN series. The Resanta SAI model is powered from a household network and can withstand small voltage fluctuations.

According to the passport data, the device operates stably in the voltage range from 154 volts to 242 volts. If you really look at things, then at a voltage below 190 V some problems arise, the electrode sticks.

The only way out of this situation is to switch to electrodes of a smaller diameter.

For those living in rural areas, voltage drop is one of the main problems of power supply. It also happens that the voltage drops below 190 V. In this case, you should choose one of the models of the AIS PN series, which will allow you to work even at 140 V.

If you need to have standard operating parameters with reduced dimensions, then a model of the “Compact” category is suitable. Let us remind you that the letter “K” will appear in the model name. The weight of such a welding machine is reduced by 1.5 times compared to similar models. The remaining categories are positioned as professional; they have additional functions that may not be useful in everyday life. And high power levels of welding current are of no use to novice amateurs.

Having decided on the category, you need to select a modification of the welding machine. The determining factor here will be the maximum value of the welding current. It is convenient to identify it by just one name. The value of the maximum current in amperes is written as an index after the abbreviation AIS. For example, SAI-160 is designed for a maximum current of 160 amperes.

The power of the device should be selected depending on the intended types of work. What matters is the thickness of the metal or the diameter of the suitable electrodes. 160 A inverters are suitable for welding with electrodes with a diameter of 3 mm. You can choose a model with a certain power reserve, otherwise the device will work according to marginal parameters, however, such a step may cost some money, because, in fact, the cost depends on the power.

The Resanta SAI-220 or SAI-250 models, as the name suggests, are considered more powerful. Indeed, the maximum current in them reaches 220 and 250 amperes, respectively. With such devices you can weld with five or six millimeter electrodes. Each device is supplied with a technical data sheet. All characteristics are included in it. Before choosing, you need to pay attention to the type of network, type of welding, additional functions, maximum current and power.

Reviews

To be honest, there are reviews, both positive and negative. Each user emphasizes the relatively inexpensive cost of the device, the availability of additional functions and compactness. However, many complain about the frequency of breakdowns. This is especially true for models released after 2012. Everyone noticed that the quality of the products had dropped significantly, although the price had also dropped.

In repair shops, experts give their verdict. Most breakdowns are due to non-compliance with operating rules. It clearly states that you cannot keep the device next to a working grinder, sharpening or grinding machine. If dust gets inside the housing, the device may burn. It is also not adapted to humid environments. Do not cover the housing, thereby impeding air circulation.

Those who are lucky consider Resanta brand equipment to be quite good, provided that the conditions and basic operating requirements are met.
